Updates by the Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza on the Humanitarian Aid for Gaza Campaign

In May 2021, the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) had carried out a humanitarian aid fundraising campaign for affected communities in Gaza and raised a total of USD $3.18 million. The campaign was in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

 

As part of its efforts of ensuring transparency and accountability in its fundraising, RLAF conducted a one-hour livestream session on Zoom and Facebook
with the Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza (Programmes), Ms. Joanna Nathan, to obtain updates about the aid campaign. Ms. Nathan has more than 15
years of international experience in challenging field environments including Afghanistan and Iraq. The session was moderated by the Chief Executive Officer of
RLAF, Mr. Faizal Othman, and the Chief Executive of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, Mr. Kadir Maideen was also present.

Ms. Nathan provided updates and responded to numerous questions about the latest situation in Gaza and the distribution of food aid and medical support under the humanitarian aid for Gaza campaign. Food aid is currently distributed in stages at 15 distribution centers in the form of food basket containing staple food such as wheat flour, rice, oil, sugar, milk and other items to each Palestinian beneficiary. In all, more than 139,000 individuals will benefit through food supplies and secondary health care from the contributions.
