RLAF Monitoring Visit to UNRWA HQ 🌍 Day 1 & 2

As part of RLAF’s monitoring visit, on 2nd September, the RLAF team visited the UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, engaging in productive meetings with key departments. The discussions highlighted UNRWA’s critical ongoing services in Gaza:

🔹 Health Department: The team met with Dr. Sayed Shah, Head of Health Policy and Planning, and his team. They were briefed on UNRWA’s comprehensive healthcare initiatives, mental health programs, and self-learning initiatives aimed at supporting Gaza’s population.

🔹 Relief and Social Services Department: Ms. Kholoud Homsi, Chief of the Social Services Division, shared valuable updates on the Gaza Food Assistance Programme. They discussed activities supporting orphans, unaccompanied minors, and other vulnerable groups, emphasizing UNRWA’s commitment to addressing these critical needs.

In addition to the meetings, Dr. Oroba Al Mousa, Chief of the Field Education Programme, provided a detailed overview of UNRWA’s Education Programme and its impact in Baqa’a. Following this, the RLAF team participated in a walking tour of Baqa’a refugee camp, engaging with UNRWA teachers and students and observing the programme’s direct effects.

The visit included a tour of the @UNRWA girls’ school and health centre in Baqa’a refugee camp, continuing their support for #PalestineRefugees. This visit followed our earlier tour last March 2024 of @UNRWA Hussein refugee camp.

Yesterday, we gathered at River Wonders for the RLA Day Stroll for Disability Awareness, bringing together over 600 participants, including persons with disabilities (PwDs), caregivers, and dedicated volunteers from various organisations.

With participations from over 10 organisations, this meaningful event highlighted our commitment to compassion and inclusivity, fostering connections among disability service agencies and the Muslim community. 🙌🏻☺️

Earlier today, Hj. Mohamed Abdul Jaleel generously

Earlier today, Hj. Mohamed Abdul Jaleel generously presented his donation of $50,000 to RLAF’s ‘Humanitarian Aid for Gaza 2024’ fundraising during the Indian Muslim (IM) Symposium at the Singapore Islamic Hub.

The cheque was handed to CEO of RLAF, Mr Adnan Abdul Hamid. The handover was witnessed by Minister of State for Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim (@muhammadfaishalibrahim ), and RLAF Chairman Mr. Abdul Razak Maricar.

This contribution will go a long way in providing humanitarian assistance and relief to the people affected in Gaza.

At the IM Symposium, Dr. Muhammad Faishal recounted his experience at yesterday’s Jumaah at Jamae Chulia. He expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity and the dedicated volunteers there as well as all mosques in Singapore, highlighting the vital role in supporting the RLAF’s humanitarian aid efforts for Gaza.

On Friday, 20 September, donation boxes were placed at mosques across Singapore for the ‘Humanitarian Aid for Gaza 2024’ fundraising collection.

We are grateful for the community’s generosity as well as to our mosques islandwide for their support in this endeavour to alleviate the sufferings of those in need in Gaza.

These donation boxes at mosques for the ‘Humanitarian Aid for Gaza 2024’ will remain available until Thursday, 26 September 2024. Online donations will be accepted until 13 December 2024.
