Afghanistan & Pakistan Emergency Appeal

The Rahmatan Lil Alamin (Blessings to All) Foundation (RLAF) is partnering with the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) in a fundraising appeal to support communities affected by the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan and the floods in Pakistan. The appeal aims to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those most impacted by the disaster.

Impact of the Afghanistan earthquake and Pakistan floods: A Call for Action

On 31 August 2025, a powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, killing over 2,200 people, injuring thousands, and destroying more than 8,000 homes. The disaster has displaced hundreds of thousands and deepened Afghanistan’s fragile humanitarian situation already marked by conflict and hardship. An estimated 1.3 million people have been affected, many displaced, with survivors lacking shelter, clean water, medical care, and at rising risk of disease.

Meanwhile, in Mid-August, Pakistan was hit by severe flash floods that submerged over 2,200 villages and displaced more than 2 million people and evacuated at least 760,000 residents. Homes, farmland, and livestock were destroyed, crippling livelihoods and leaving communities stranded with limited access to clean water, sanitation and healthcare. To date, 33 lives have been lost. The scale of destruction threatens to cripple agriculture, livelihoods, and key export crops, exacerbating the hardships for affected communities.

The funds raised will support (but not limited to) urgent relief such as search and rescue support, food, clean water, emergency health and medical supplies, mental health and pscyhosocial support and other essential supplies to affected communities.

Fundraising Appeal for Afghanistan and Pakistan

To support relief efforts, RLAF will conduct a fundraising appeal over 3 weeks, from 15 September 2025 to 5 October 2025, providing the community and all Singaporeans an opportunity to contribute to this humanitarian cause.

This fundraising effort will employ a multi-model approach via online donations and collections at mosques. The funds raised will support (and not be limited to) the procurement of urgent relief such as search and rescue support, food, clean water, emergency health and medical supplies, mental health and psychosocial support for the affected communities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. These essential resources will provide much-needed relief to individuals and families affected by the disaster as they begin their journey to recovery.

All donations will be channeled through our partner SRC. This is to ensure effective procurement and delivery of essential relief items and services to reach affected individuals and families in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

*Donations under this ‘Afghanistan and Pakistan Emergency Appeal’ campaign are eligible for a 100% tax deduction under the Overseas Humanitarian Assistance Tax Deduction Scheme (OHAS) under Singapore Red Cross (SRC), as approved by the Commissioner of Charities Unit.
