1. Who is Hayrat Yardim and what does the organisation do?

Hayrat Yardim is a humanitarian aid organization based in Turkiye. The organization delivers aid to millions of people-in-need in 5 continents and 70 countries with its 300 coordination centers in Turkiye and the coordination of about 30 countries abroad, and carries out coordinated work with government agencies, domestic and foreign institutions and organizations. 

Hayrat Yardim also gained the status of “Public Benefit” in 2016 and “Permit to Collect Aid without Permission” in 2017. It has always maintained values ​​such as honesty, teamwork, quality, trust, continuous development, respect for people and the environment, and is on its way to becoming “Turkiye’s Brand of Goodness” and acts as a bridge between needy and helpful people.

2. Will the funds reach Turkiye & Syria ?

All collections will be channeled through Hayrat Yardim, which will deliver aid to the affected communities. 

3. When is the period of donation?

The donation period would be held from 10 February 2023 to 24 February 2023.

4. Why can’t we donate outside the period?

It is because the permit that RLAF obtained from the Commissioner of Charities (CoC) is only applicable for the campaign date.

5. When will the funds reach Turkiye & Syria?

All net donations received and accounted for will be given to Hayrat Yardim after the end of the campaign period. Hayrat Yardim will do the necessary distributions.

6. How can I donate to the Turkiye & Syria Earthquake Emergency Appeal?

PayNow – There are 2 ways to PayNow

a1. Scan or retrieve a screenshot of the above QR Code using your digital banking’s Scan & Pay. You will see “TurkiyeSyria2023” in the Reference. Proceed to transfer.
a2. Choose PayNow to UEN and key in RLAF’s UEN: 200910530ZRLA and then indicate “TurkiyeSyria2023” under Reference before transfer.

b. Giving.SG – campaign at giving.sg/rlafoundationsg/TurkiyeSyria2023

c. Interbank transfer via RLAF (Rahmatan lil Alamin Foundation) – Transfer to OCBC Current Account at a/c no: 601313315001 and indicate “TurkiyeSyria2023″

d. Issue a cheque payable to ‘RLAF’. State on back of cheque: donor’s name, contact number and indicate “TurkiyeSyria2023″. Mail your cheque to RLAF (Masjid Yusof Ishak, No 10, Woodlands Drive 17, Singapore 737740) or to MUIS (No. 273 Braddell Road, Singapore 579702)

7. What is the minimum amount for donations?

There is no minimum amount of donation except if you are to donate via Giving.sg which sets a $10 minimum amount.

8. Will receipts be issued for my donations?

Non tax-deductible receipts will be issued upon request via e-mail. As per IRAS regulation, these donations are not tax-deductible as they are donations for “foreign charitable purposes”.

9. What will the donation be allocated for?

The donation will be allocated to support the immediate needs of survivors and communities affected by the recent earthquake in Turkiye & Syria. These needs include but are not limited to tents, hot meals, mattresses, blankets and winter clothing sets. 

10. Can our donations be considered as Zakat?

All contributions are not considered as Zakat but as donations.

11. I donated online but forgot to indicate “TurkiyeSyria2023” under remarks. Will my online donation still be accepted for this fundraising campaign?

Yes. Your online donation will still be accepted for this fundraising campaign provided the donation is submitted during the stated fundraising period.

12. Does RLAF accept in-kind or item donations for this campaign? 

We seek your understanding that RLAF does not accept in-kind or item donations for this campaign.

13. Are we able to donate to this campaign via the donation boxes at mosques?

All mosques across Singapore will participate in this special collection through donation boxes starting from Friday, 10 February 2023 to Thursday, 16 February 2023. Members of the community can contribute their donations via these boxes which will be marked ‘Turkiye & Syria Earthquake Emergency Appeal’.
