RLAF, in collaboration with all 70 mosques in Singapore and supported by Muslims and non-Muslims alike, raised a total of SGD 342,569 (USD 232,600) in aid of Syrian refugees living in the refugee camps and dwellings located in Jordan and Lebanon.

For this initiative, RLAF collaborated with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) that is on the ground in Jordan and Lebanon.

USD 100,000 from the collection enabled the UNHCR to provide the Winter Assistance Programme which provides the refugees of Al-Azraq Camp in Jordan a much-needed supply of gas and thermal blankets to tide them in the keep them warm and to go on with their daily living needs through the winter. The remaining fund of USD 132,600 was used to support UNHCR’s Outreach Education Programme, Parent Engagement and Homework Support programmes to ensure access of education for the Syrian children in many different locations in Lebanon.

2 representatives from RLAF travelled to Amman and Beirut from 12 to May 2017 to better understand the projects, engage the programme providers and beneficiaries as well as observe the impact of the projects on the affected communities.
