It has been a year of adjustment but the team was nimble enough to traverse through a new reality and stay focus in building a caring and compassionate community. Thank you all colleagues, partners and volunteers for supporting our causes and working together with us.

[Turkiye & Syria Earthquake Emergency Appeal]

The Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) in collaboration with the Hayrat Yardim @hayratyardim has raised a total of $2,151,202 for the Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Emergency Appeal. The funds will be used to support the immediate needs of communities affected by the earthquake. These needs include blankets, tents, hot meals, winter clothing sets and mattresses.

Earlier on Monday, Chairman of RLAF Board of Trustees, Mr Hj Abdul Razak Maricar, formally handed over the collection to Hayrat Yardim in a cheque handover ceremony. His Excellency, Mr Mehmet Burçin Gönenli, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to the Republic of Singapore accepted the mock cheque on behalf of Hayrat Yardim. It was witnessed by Chief Executive of Muis, Mr Kadir Maideen.

Chairman of Hayrat Yardim, Mr Hakki Aygün, and Vice Chairman, Mr Osman Çalim, graced the ceremony via a live video call. During the live call, ground representatives from three different regions namely Adiyaman, Hatay and Kahramanmaras also shared updates from the ground on ongoing aid distributions.

In his speech during the ceremony, CEO of RLAF, Mr Faizal Othman mentioned that the collection was made possible through the generous donations and compassion showed by people from all walks of life.

This year, our aim is to raise $240,000 from March 21st to April 21st 2023, to assist some 7,000 vulnerable families and individuals, regardless of their faith or background. Each recipient will receive a set of vouchers to fulfil their daily food and grocery needs.

From 23rd to 26th of February, CEO of RLAF, Mr Muh

From 23rd to 26th of February, CEO of RLAF, Mr Muhammad Faizal Othman, staff, Mr Ezzaaz Hakam, core volunteer, Mr Mohammad Sharil and Mr Khairul Massuan from Mercy Relief paid a second visit to Palu, Sulawesi where a project with ground partner Pusat Kajian dan Perlindungan Anak (PKPA) Foundation had been carried out.

The project “Building Communities’ Disaster Preparedness and Resilience through School-based Disaster Risk Reduction (BCDPR-SDRR)” covered 11 schools which were severely affected by the earthquake and tsunami with liquefaction and landslides that occurred on September 28, 2018 in Central Sulawesi.

The main objective of the visit is to assess how the school communities have improved in their understanding of disaster preparedness and resilience through disaster education and capacity building which eventually can be sustained by sharing disaster knowledge and awareness education to immediate and wider communities. Activities in the project include establishing risk mapping and evacuation maps, provision of disaster risk reduction tools and equipment such as manual crank alarm as well as disaster risk reduction (DRR) training and protocols.

Back in 28 Sept 2018, a powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Palu, Indonesia. It was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks, including one measuring magnitude 5.7. A tsunami wave of up to 2m then hit the shoreline of Palu city after the quake. The disaster had caused thousands of damages across the region. At least 4,340 lives had been lost and more than 10,000 others injured.

We would like to extend our thanks to our partners @mercy_relief and @yayasanpkpa for sharing with us the important work they are doing on the ground. We pray that Palu residents continue to be given the remarkable strength and resilience to carry on rebuilding their lives.

We are pleased to announce that our fundraising campaign in collaboration with the Hayrat Yardim, a humanitarian aid organisation based in Turkiye, has raised a total of $2,151,202 to support the immediate needs of communities affected by the earthquake in Turkiye and Syria within two weeks of collection.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals, mosques and groups who contributed to provide essential items such as tents, hot meals, mattresses, blankets, and winter clothing sets to those in need.

We are grateful to everyone who came forward to support our fundraising campaign and helped us make a difference in the lives of those affected by this crisis. Your contributions will go a long way in bringing relief and comfort to those who are currently experiencing hardships.

From 2nd to 4th of March, Chairman of RLAF, Mr Abd

From 2nd to 4th of March, Chairman of RLAF, Mr Abdul Razak Maricar, CEO of RLAF, Mr Muhammad Faizal Othman, staff, Ms Amira Amani, core volunteers, Mr Muhammad Izzat and Ms Juliana Chua together with team from @mercy_relief carried out a monitoring visit and second phase of aid distribution to communities affected by the West Java earthquake.

Back in November 2022, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 rocked the Cianjur District, West Java Province, Indonesia on Sunday, 21 November, 2022 at 1.21 pm (local time). The earthquake that occurred had an impact on three districts, including Cianjur, Sukabumi and Bogor and resulted in 118 aftershocks.

For the first wave of assistance in end November 2022, RLAF and Mercy Relief distributed hot meals, water, hygiene kits, blankets and shelter tents to the worst affected and most vulnerable families in Cianjur Regency. Relief distributions were carried out at four villages in Cianjur, Cugenang, Warung Kondang and Cilaku sub-districts.

For the second wave of assistance, RLAF and Mercy Relief have pledged relief items which include hygiene kits, shelter kits, food packages, school kits for kindergarten and elementary school students, cooking ware package and fans for temporary schools. These items will be distributed at Cibulakan and Talaga Villages in Cugenang.

We hope that the aid and items will help lighten the burden of the beneficiaries and we would like to thank everyone who has donated and make this effort possible.

RLAF is heartened to share that the Turkiye and Sy

RLAF is heartened to share that the Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Emergency Appeal fundraising collection had reached more than $2 million on the final day of the fundraising.

To facilitate rapid response to the immediate needs of victims and provide life-saving assistance as quickly as possible, RLAF expedited a handover of $1 million of the funds raised to its ground partner Hayrat Yardim for its on-ground operations upon approval from the Commissioner of Charities (CoC).

RLAF will subsequently transfer the remainder of funds following the final consolidation of the collection amount and further approval obtained from CoC. We are currently in the process of doing so and will provide updates on the total amount soon. In compliance with regulations and as part of good governance, RLAF will also go through audit certification and the report will be submitted to CoC.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have stepped forward to generously contribute to the campaign.

ICYMI: On 20 February 2023, a new earthquake wit

ICYMI:

On 20 February 2023, a new earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 hit Turkiye-Syria border. It was centered near the southern Turkish city of Antakya and was felt in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck 3 minutes later, with its epicenter in the Samandag district of Hatay province.
