8 August 2018

In collaboration with all mosques in Singapore is organising a special fund raising effort in aid of survivors of the earthquake in Lombok and floods in Laos.

A powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia’s Lombok island on 5 August 2018 while a dam collapse in Laos’ Attapeu province on 23 July 2018 had resulted in massive floods. The devastating earthquake and floods have contributed to widespread damage of infrastructures, as well as loss of lives and properties with thousands made homeless as a result of the disasters.

In the show of community’s compassion for the victims of the disasters, the RLAF will start a special collection via online at the Muis website https://zakat.sg/ePayment/donations.aspx starting today, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 to Friday, 24 August 2018. In addition, all 70 mosques in Singapore will participate in this special collection through donation boxes beginning this Friday, 10 August 2018 to Thursday, 16 August 2018. All boxes will be marked “In Aid of Survivors of Earthquake in Lombok and Floods in Laos”.

Members of the public can also offer their donations in cash or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to “RLAF” with the words “In Aid of Survivors of Earthquake in Lombok and Floods in Laos” written on the back. Cash and cheques can be delivered to the following:

1) RLAF Office
Masjid Yusof Ishak, Level 4
10 Woodlands Drive 17
Singapore 737740

2) RLAF
Singapore Islamic Hub,
273 Braddell Road
Singapore 579702

All proceeds from the collection will be handed over to Mercy Relief and Singapore Red Cross Society who are supporting emergency relief operations in both countries.

In the meantime, the Singapore Muslim community prays that the affected
victims will be given the strength and resilience to face these tragic and challenging
circumstances.
